Another health workshop by Mrs. Aileen de Guzman was held last April 27, 2013 (Saturday) at Health Spring Wellness Centre. She discussed the importance of superfoods and superherbs, which are both superheroes to our health and overall wellness. This workshop was about natural cleansing foods and tonic herbs that gently cleanse the liver and colon from harmful toxins. She also shared how she prepared her homemade coconut kefir and super yummy kimchi dressing, which are both probiotics.
What I love about the workshop was how interactive and spontaneous it was. From having sample dishes brought to our tables, one-by-one, people started to stand up and got their own dishes at our instructor’s table. We all enjoyed the Astralagus Kimchi Salad which was made more palatable by the use of…guess what…*TEN-NEN-TENEN-TENEN…an ALL-ORGANIC ALMOND BUTTER (or tahini)! Sooo good! I even saw kids biting their greens! It was such a happy picture to see! We barely see kids going gaga over their veggies nowadays, so it was a spark of hope (for our future) to see children enjoying organic stuff in this age of processed foods. The organic menu was a box-office hit!
I also discovered that I can be a full vegan (having a blood type A), if I wanted to. I’ll keep that in mind, but for now I will keep on enjoying my white and red meat. 😉 Although, this year, I committed to live a more healthy lifestyle (so help me God). I tried to eat some (almost) raw eggs last night, which is another story to share. Baby steps to a better health.
I like what Mrs. Aileen wrote on one of the pages of our materials which says, “Start small. Make healthy choices every day!”. It is indeed a daily choice, a decision to make.
